I think a fair number of you are going. Post up if you are. I debating DRIVING 12 hours from Cincinnati to Duluth but that might be crazy talk. Of course, flights I am looking at now are in the $500 range, so maybe it's not too crazy.

I am registered and would consider a 12 hour road trip to Duluth!
I have been looking at flight costs for quite some time now and they are not budging. I think that would definitely save money driving.
We have driven longer for marathons and it hasn't been a big deal. Scott can sing the whole way! Laughing

rates to duluth probably won't budge--un;ess they go up--i book a fishing trip for my boys every year--and for the past two years prices have not been below $600--and i kept waiting and waiting for them to go down...they went up and i won't admit what i had to pay to get them there on the correct date...

i am registered and would consider driving..but i wouldn't want to lock into anything this early..

I have officially registered for this marathon. Also, someone suggested that we might fly out of Dayton and get to St. Paul-Minneapolis, then drive to Duluth. I am going to check that option but I am still OK to drive the entire distance.

I'm registered as well as a fair number of PBN runners. Not sure yet if driving or flying. I would be open to sharing the cost of driving and/or hotel.

Kim and I have registered and I am sure we will fly. If you end up flying into MPLS and then driving to Duluth, you will pass through my old stomping grounds in Hinckley, MN. Duluth is about 160 miles drive from the airport (MSP) so not a bad drive. I can check with friends to see if there is a place we could rent as a group.

How many of us are going? We need to book some rooms people.

I have been looking into this and hotel rentals are quite costly.

Luckily, the local college campuses offer their Dorms and on campus suites for a much cheaper rate.
We really need to start booking if they will let us. Some won't let people reserve anything until March 1st.
check out the college campus info at the link below.

Should I go ahead and reserve a two bedroom suite that sleeps four?
Suite $388 (tax included) (cost is for a two night stay...Friday June 21 and Saturday June 22
2 bedrooms each with 2 twin beds, a small living room with couch and chair and a private bathroom. There is a kitchenette on each floor, there are also laundry facilities available

thanks for looking into this, michelle....i think the dorms look good- lots more room than a hotel room

lori and i are interested...karen is trying to figure out what she will do (she has a lot on her plate right now)...

i will probably fly- checked rates and times today- best seems to be united out of cvg...$434......alternative is to fly delta to minneapolis and rent a car (a 2 1/2 hour drive)- for $400

lots to consider and so far away!!!

Hi Guys,
I think there are about twelve of us going.
I have a call and an email out to College of St. Scholastica.
it's a little beyond a mile from the finish and they shuttle us to the start.
Once I hear back from this Louanne Johnson woman, I will let everyone know when they can reserve or if I can just reserve four suites for us.

Here is a list of Grandma's goers.
(we don't have to have these rooms, but I was trying to break it down)

Room 1: Jeff and Kim Raber and Chuck and Rita Blake

Room 2: Tony A, Scott F, Larry L, & Paul Seibert

Room 3: Me, Melanie Owen, Alice S., room for one more.

Room 4: Lori Davis, Karen Ball
Jill Meyer, Su Randall

Room 5: Tim and Corrie / Jen and Joy

let me know what everyone thinks and also let me know if I forgot someone.
xo
Michelle
