Congratulations to all those who ran the Queen Bee Half Marathon on Saturday. We also had folks doing on their normal weekend workout on that day, along with one our members completing the Feral Hog 50K ultra-marathon. Another person was in the Chicago Marathon on Sunday. We also had a successful Queen Bee expo experience, collecting over 30 names of interested people for next season's Flying Pig Half and Full training. That will kickoff next month on Saturday, November 18, so hold the morning of that day on your calendars.

This Saturday, our newest member, Amy Nichols, will be the only person to run 23 miles as her last, longest training run for her event in November at the Indy Monumental Marathon. I will be out of town at the Detroit Marathon for my last longest training run on Sunday. As such, I declare the name of our Saturday workout as "Amy's Excellent Adventure", so there will be loops and staggered start times if you would like to accompany her. We already have a few volunteers, but as this coming Saturday is the last, long slow run for those participating in the Baltimore Marathon next weekend, it's a time to taper! Please contact me directly or post here if you would like to help out!

The remaining Wednesday workouts will be easy group runs as per the schedule. Depending on who attends, we might break for a few speedy miles if there is interest. However, to minimize your injury risk and maximize your recovery, easy group runs are OK!

Here are the workouts for this week.

Wednesday, October 11th - Easy Group Run
As we are in the final phase of the training schedule, we will just do easy pace group runs on the remaining Wednesdays leading up to the end of this season (November 4). The run distance is approximately 4-5 miles around the Mariemont area from our meeting location. We will divide up into pace groups, depending on how many attend, or we will opt for a group pace and run-walk ratio to be determined by group consensus.
TIME: meet at 6:00pm
LOCATION: Starbucks in Mariemont, 6800 Wooster Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45227

Saturday, October 14th - "Amy's Excellent Adventure" Long Slow Run (run a loop with Amy!)
TIME
loop 1 (the "early bird"): meet at 5:45am to run at 6:00am (3 miles)
loop 2 (the "morning riser"): meet at 6:30am to run at 6:45am (12 miles)
loop 3 (the "finish strong"): meet at 9:30am to run at 9:45am (8 miles)
LOCATION: Gallery Entrance at Newport on the Levee, 1 Levee Way (on 3rd Street), Newport, KY 41071
DISTANCE: 23 miles for Amy and 14 miles for "to finish" half marathoners (Baltimore people do 7 miles)

For anyone doing this Saturday's workout, here is the plan for running with Amy.

* Chris McCallin and Lori Davis for 6 from 6:45-8:15
* Rita Blake, Chuck Blake, and Phyllis Pickens for 4 from 8:15-9:15
* Rita Blake, Chuck Blake, and Phyllis Pickens for 2 from 9:15-9:45
