They said it was strenuous and will, they were right. There were maybe 50 people and it was vary informal. They did give you a bib so that they could recognize you on the course. Walkers departed at 9 and runners at 10. (Some guy was all sweaty at the 10 start and telling his friend he already ran the course once.) This is not a run where you can reply on finding the course just by following runners. You need the turn by turn directions and maybe your glasses. There are green 8x10 signs with arrows stapled or taped to power poles. Jim Hunter and I started out with a gentle 2:1 jog. Soon we were alone. The first hill was to run over to the casino and up the steps over I-71 and up Mt Adams. Then down and up Mt Auburn. The hills up to U.C. Then across the Eastern Hills Viaduct (an interesting experience) and to near east side neighborhood that I've never been in. A number of the hills had a small park with a sweeping overview of the Natti, like Eden Park. So this is not a timed event. No roads are closed. You have to obey the traffic lights. There was minimal support. Elder athletes maned the water stops, one every 2 miles and provided...water. They challenged you to run up all the hills. I failed. These were all pretty awesome hills, steeper than Delta for instance. Some were just absurdly steep, Mount Adams class steep. Mr Hunter and I got off course once and someone with the race drove up and straightened us out, so they were cruising around looking for lost lambs. Then over on the east side we realized that were were being stalked by a Cincinnati Recreation Commission van. We approached them. Yes, it's true. we were the last two. They were taking down the signs behind us. Jim took down several and handed them to the man and woman in the van. They cheerfully said we didn't need to do that. No really. (It was fun, but it was slowing us down even more.) They chatted with us at water stops and were very pleasant. They waited until we past before taking a sign down. Faithfully. And they followed us all the way in. Since were the last two, I told Jim that clearly there was going to be a sprint of some kind at the finish. We decided to finish together and call it a tie, spare someone the awful stigma. Oh wait.. Yes, really, tied for last! We both wear the awful stigma. It was really strenuous, just like they said. The legs felt more like finishing a marathon. Really! You guys just gotta do this. ;->

I ran the Seven Hills a few years ago and had a blast! Cold with snow flurries and some snow on the ground. This added to the ambiance.

It was a point to point then. There were some hills at the end that made me wish I was back in Mt Adams:-)) There were a few signs, but mostly you had to follow directions or a map. It was a fun time!

Glad you and Jim got to enjoy the run and finish together.
